Are you a little nervous about your upcoming photoshoot? No worries! We have some great tips to make sure you have the best experience!

Plan Your Outfits

When deciding on what to wear, keep comfort in mind as well as the location. Pick a color palette that consists of about 3-4 colors and think in terms of tones: blue tones, earth tones, neutrals, pastels, etc. Each person can express their own sense of style within the chosen color palette, which will coordinate beautifully. Layering is always a great idea as well as adding appropriate accessories. Of course, wearing something that highlights your best asset during your session will have you feeling confident throughout the shoot and that will definitely show in photos! Plus, we're always happy to work with clients on what to wear too.

Hair & Makeup

If you want to have your hair and makeup done professionally before the shoot, great! If not, we recommend keeping your makeup clean and natural. Avoid using glitter or products with shine, as matte finish looks best on camera. Since we shoot primarily outdoors, we are at the mercy of mother nature which means sometimes it's hot and humid. Make sure you use a setting spray and waterproof mascara to avoid smudge. And ladies, if your hair is down please just embrace the wind and focus on having a good time versus fretting about it. Messy hair is sexy! Also, be sure to have nice clean manicured nails, ladies and gentlemen alike.

Rest & Relax

Avoid staying out late or drinking alcohol the night before as this can cause you to look and feel tired which will show in your photos. Relax, and get a good night sleep so you'll look and feel your absolute best! The day of, we recommend bringing water with you as well as snacks (especially for family photos with little ones).

What to Expect

If you're familiar with our work, then you know we are all about raw and real moments. We prefer to capture candid shots versus posed pictures where you're smiling directly at the camera. When planning our shoots, we work with our clients on ideas for activities or things they can do so their interacting. We also provide prompts to keep you engaged with one another and always encourage things like piggyback rides, bear hugs, dancing, and ridiculous jokes to keep our sessions fun. For us, it is all about highlighting who you are as a person, couple, or family. We want your photos to be authentic and emotive.
